Assessment of the effects of Zincum metallicum in maternal deprivation-induced behavioral disturbances in female rats

Background: Clinical studies have shown that adverse events in early life are quite stressful and can lead to the development of psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety, adolescence adulthood humans. Experimental models maternal deprivation (MD) rats be a useful tool for understanding how these period behavioral changes adulthood. Aims: The objective this study was evaluate long-term effects Zincum metallicum (Zinc met) homeopathic treatment subjected their days life. Methods: Newborn female were MD during 10 days, one hour per day, from PND10 PND21, treated 10th day lactation (PND10) up weaning (PND21). On PND21 divided 4 groups (N=8): a) with Zinc met 30c; b) 6c; c) 10% hydroalcoholic solution (HS); “blank control”, without any nor experienced (ND). medicines administered blind trials, identified by codes. animals weighed weekly, until end experiment, evaluated Open Field (OF) Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) devices, mobility, emotionality 3 moments life: (childhood), puberty (PND 40) (PND75). Data analyzed statistically ANOVA, followed Bonferroni's Multiple Comparison Test, being p?0.05. Results: 1) relative ND group 6c showed reduced body weight while no differences observed between other groups; 2) In OF, increased rearing behavior at PND 40. reversed effect showing similar profile group. Moreover, increase immobility time age; 3) EPM, closed arms decreased head dips observation. Treatment but not 30c effective reduce anxiety-like PND21. Conclusion: According proposed model, seems able prevent induced childhood, mainly related anxiety. However, still need developed understand physio-pathological basis effects.
